WELCOME TO SAGA!

"We all love animals.  Why do we call some "pets" and others "dinner?"

Changes in Your Daily Life

Here are 5 easy things you can do to help animals and the environment.  See if you can do at least one of these every day...

1.  Pick up a piece of trash

Respect the world you live in.  Pick up a piece of trash that might otherwise have been eaten by an animal and combat pollution while creating a more beautiful world.  Also, people are less likely to pollute in cleaner areas than in dirty ones, so help make every area garbage free.

2.    BYOB

Bring Your Own Bag.

www.bringyourbag.com tells us these facts:
-    Hundreds of thousands of sea turtles, whales and other marine mammals die every year from eating discarded plastic bags mistaken for food.
-    Each year, an estimated 500 billion - 1 trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide. That translates to over one million per minute.
-    Plastic bags can take between 15 and 1000 years to break down in the environment.

Every time you bring a bag to the store, you're helping reduce pollution, and save the lives of animals.  Also, when you are out at a store buying clothes, or food, tell them, "No bag thanks."  You'll have done your good deed of the day.

3.    Carry a Water Bottle

When you're out and about there is always that temptation to buy a beverage, whether that be a bottle of water or some other drink.  But instead of buying that disposable beverage, try bringing your own water bottle to reduce pollution.  That way, you'll never go thirsty and you'll save lots of money by not buying out all the time.

4.    Take a Walk/Bike/Bus/Train

Going to a friend's house not too far away?  Take a walk or ride your bike and save both money in your pocket from high gas prices. Just by spending a few minutes enjoying the outdoors, you can help save the earth from global warming.

Or if you're headed a few towns over, take a bus or a train.  Public transportation saves gas and like walking, minimizes emissions.

5.    Turn that Water Off

Brushing your teeth?  Make sure while you're scrubbing plaque away, that you're not wasting water.

Also, be conscious of how long you're in the shower.  By washing your hair just a bit faster, you can help save gallons upon gallons per year- yep that's right, just one person can save LOTS.
