WELCOME TO SAGA!

"The animals of the world exist for their own reasons. They were not made for humans any more than black people were made for whites or women for men."                                                                        -Alice Walker

Take Action: Foie Gras

Foie gras is the fatty liver of a duck or goose.  It is made by cruelly force-feeding these beautiful birds until their livers grow to ten times their natural size.  The cruelty to make this product is so bad that sixteen countries, the state of California, and the city of Chicago have all banned its production.  Chicago and California went even further by banning its sale.  Hundreds of restaurants all across the country have also made the compassionate choice to take it off their menus.
Learn how you can join in these efforts and help put an end to foie gras:

Support restaurants that don't serve foie gras:
Ask your family and friends to go to restaurants that don't serve foie gras.  Let the restaurants that do serve it know that you'll return as a customer when they remove it from their menus.

Write a letter to your local newspaper:
Educate yourself about the foie gras industry and write a letter to your local newspaper encouraging people not to eat foie gras.  When the food critics in your local paper or television show give a positive review of foie gras at a restaurant, write a letter explaining how you feel about it.  In your letter, encourage them to promote cruelty-free foods instead.

Petition:
If a restaurant doesn't agree to stop serving foie gras after being asked to, start a petition demanding that the restaurant take it off their menu and get customers to sign it.  When you have enough signatures, ask for a meeting with the manager and present it to him/her. (Always remain professional and courteous).
