Grant Program

Grant Applications are due October 15th and April 1st of each year.

SAGA's grant program seeks to assist SAGA chapters with special projects. Special projects go above and beyond what is a normal club activity.  SAGA is looking for creative initiatives that explore unique ways for clubs to educate themselves and others on animal welfare issues. Perhaps your chapter could attend a conference if only you had the entrance fee, or take a trip to an animal sanctuary if only you could pay for the bus, or sponsor a veg day at your cafeteria with soy dogs and veggie burgers.  These are just a few examples of the types of projects that could qualify.

Grant amounts will depend on the nature of the project but generally will be limited to $500.  Here's how to apply:

  1. 1. Write a 1 - 2 page summary on your club's intended project and explain why this project should be funded.  How does it help your club and how does it help animal welfare?
  2. 2. Write a break down of costs and how much money the project will require.

Note: Please let us know how your club intends to fundraise to meet the difference between the grant request and the cost of the project.

Notification of successful grants will be made within two weeks of the deadline.

Please note that successful grants will require a grant agreement contract provided by SAGA to be signed by both the club sponsor and the school principal.  This agreement will state that this project has the permission of the school, all funds given by SAGA will be used for the stated purpose, and any funds not used for that purpose will be returned to SAGA.  Checks for grants will need to be paid to the school and actual funds to the club dispensed according to the school policy.
